Elizabeth Quick Notes

Elizabeth, by Willo Davis Robers, is Sunfire #3.

I’m actually surprised by how worn my copy of Elizabeth is…It’s almost falling apart! I don’t remember loving this one so much, but perhaps the tale of someone who gets what’s coming to her enthralled me.

Front cover blurb: In a time of treachery and terror, loving the wrong man could be a deadly risk.

Back cover blurb: Did she dare follow her heart?

Main character: Elizabeth Fallon. 16 years old, black hair, gray eyes. Nickname: Beth.

Suitor #1: Troy Hutchins, 21 years old, son of wealthy farmer, blond hair, blue eyes.

Suitor #2: John Bradburn (nickname: Johnny). Curly dark brown hair, gray eyes. Highwayman and cobbler. AKA John Barlett.

Setting: Saugus, Massachusettes, 1692, near the Salem witch trials.

On the cover: middle, Elizabeth; left, Troy Hutchins; right, Johnny Bradburn. In the lower left, “highwayman” Johnny is robbing Elizabeth and James Hutchins, father of Troy, on their way to Saugus.

I actually love how Nell Woodward is portrayed on the back cover, even in her “inappropriate” silky dress from Barbados. I know there are complaints about Elizabeth’s rockin’ hair on the front cover, but hey people, it was the 80s. The bigger the hair, the better! Some of my 80s pics show HUGE hair, and I wasn’t even happy at how “flat” it was.
